Radio programme: Night Owls, Friday nights, midnight until 2am.

Starting next week, you’ll be able to tune in to 3MBS 103.5 FM Classically Melbourne on Friday nights (or technically-speaking, Saturday morning) and hear me present some wonderful music on the Night Owls programme!

Feel free to let me know if you have any favourites that you’d like to hear on future shows. Either comment here or email me at g.edwards3[at]ugrad.unimelb.edu.au.

Graceegirl will feature a list of the Friday Night Owls programme’s music line-up each week from now on, so watch this space to see whether your favourites or requests are to be featured. Bear in mind that 3MBS is a classical music station, so Metallica requests are likely to fall on deaf ears!

This week, the line-up includes, in no particular order:

Gustav Mahler, Songs of a Wayfarer, voice and piano.

Igor Stravinsky, Petrushka. To view a clip of this famous 20th century ballet, go to:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vMpNfsYuvw

Henry Purcell, Come Ye Sons of Art.

Alexander Borodin, ‘Polovtsian Dances’ from Prince Igor. Instrumental version. To view a clip of the opera/ballet, go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8C8frqCKKg

Antonio Vivaldi, Concerto for mandolin in C major.

Arvo Part, Spiegel im spiegel.
